Parts of the user interface are kludgy and unobvious. In addition, not all the settings have a clear-to-understand purpose - especially the ones which appear on multiple screens, like FAN runtime settings. Otherwise, it's a very attractive, and very functional thermostat. I especially like the remote control. BTW, the app screens can be different from the thermostat screens for the same functionality.

The app works reliably but the UX sucks. Every time I want to change a setting, I have to relearn how to use the app. Sometimes I'll be looking for a certain setting and the app even knows I'm looking for it, but instead of letting me access the setting right there, it displays text telling me to go look for the setting somewhere else. And even those instructions are confusing! Organize the app better please! And please don't make me change temp settings and schedules in two separate places.

The Ecobee thermostat itself seems to be a good well-designed piece of hardware with intuitive controls. But the app is a mess, with most useful settings hidden beneath too many arbitrary and unlabeled menus. Honestly, I probably wouldn't purchase again just because of the constantly annoying interface and ads. I just want my thermostat to work, with a fine degree of control of my HVAC, and don't want to have to wade through marketing gimmicks and confusing menus to get there.
