About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging over Rich Communication Services (RCS) with fallback to SMS/MMS. Get more done in your messages with one-tap calendar reminders and emoji replies, and keep your conversations secure with spam protection and end-to-end encryption so you can focus on connecting with the people and businesses you care about — no matter what device they use.

Know when friends are typing or when they've read your message, share high-resolution images and videos, easily add people to a group chat, and experience an all-around richer messaging experience.

End-to-end encryption secures your eligible communications, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you’re messaging.

If a website is suspicious or unsafe, you’ll be warned before clicking any links. You can also block and report potential spammers to help stop unwanted and fraudulent messages.

Share high-resolution videos directly from your Google Photos library.

Keep the conversation going no matter what device you're on. Enjoy RCS chats with friends on your phone, computer, Android tablet, or smart watch with the Messages app.

Access suggested replies, one-tap calendar reminders, link sharing, and more without leaving your message. Reply quicker and get more out of your conversations with smart actions.

Suggested responses, gifs, and emojis make conversations faster and more fun. Reply back to messages with just a tap and keep the conversation going.

I do NOT know what happened with this app recently, but I have been having nothing but problems. My RCS chats won't work all of a sudden because it says it can't verify my phone number, which I have never had an issue with before. So I have no idea if my texts are even sending. Then, when people DO text me back, I just get messages about the text being end-to-end encrypted, so I can't even read them. Got a few texts in that timeframe, where i'd REALLY love to know what they said....

Hi, Amber. Please see our troubleshooting article which has helpful tips to solve most common issues: http://goo.gle/2OryNHm. Also, when you message someone who also has RCS Chat enabled in Messages, your chat conversations automatically upgrade to end-to-end encryption. See more information here: https://goo.gle/2PfF23F. Hope this helps.

Good app. It works for its intended purpose. The photos and videos sent are abysmal when sent from iPhones, no matter if you're on wifi or not. They're super pixilated. It's even worse when someone sends more than one photo. Apple receives my photos just fine. Good messages do not. It's embarrassing asking people to resend photos one by one because of this quality decrease.

I'm using the app to send the text messages from the phone I enjoy it greatly! But recently, I lost or no longer see the option that was crucial to me. I no longer see the drafts when I'm opening my messages. I only see the begining of the text message that was received or sent. For example, if I want to set myself a "reminder" to follow up on certain day and time with the recipient, I would type a draft , for example "Tuesday 9am" and click return without sending the text. This no longer exist
